This is the most interesting archival release of the Rolling Stones since More Hot Rocks, 20 years ago, and the first issue of truly unreleased material by the Stones from this period. And the Stones have some competition from the Who, Taj Mahal, and John Lennon on the same release. Filmed and recorded on December 10-11, 1968, at a North London studio, Rock and Roll Circus has been, as much as the Beach Boys' Smile, "the one that got away" for most '60s music enthusiasts.

Rock and Roll Circus" was long one of the most elusive of rock artifacts

The Rolling Stones Rock n' Roll Circus - May have been worth the price of admission just to see the 50yr old footage. Why haven't we ever seen this? What Rock and Roll Circus? It is an amazing performance by the band. The next big hi-lite on this film is The Dirty Mac performing the Beatles "Yer Blues".

The Rolling Stones have released their classic performance of ‘You Can’t Always Get What You Want’ as part of the deluxe reissue of their classic Rock And Roll Circus. You can check out the clip below. Directed by Let It Be‘s Michael Lindsay-Hogg, the performance was recorded in front of a live audience in London in 1968 and was originally conceived as a BBC-TV special. The performance of the widely-acclaimed Let It Bleed track sees Mick Jagger getting up close and personal with the audience as he stares directly down the camera lens.
