Roots rock is rock music that looks back to rock's origins in folk, blues and country music. It is particularly associated with the creation of hybrid subgenres from the later 1960s including country rock and Southern rock, which have been seen as responses to the perceived excesses of dominant psychedelic and developing progressive rock.
Earthy Freewheeling Boisterous Celebratory Cheerful Joyous Playful Rollicking Swaggering Rousing. Partying Hanging Out Late Night. The Rock 'N' Roll Era: Roots of Rock - 1945-1956. Time Life smartly sidesteps the question on Roots of Rock: 1945-1956 by issuing a number of R&B hits that would feed into the rock revolution. Whether some of the songs, like Jackie Brenston & His Delta Kings' "Rocket 88," might actually be rock & roll will have to be decided by the individual listener.
This CD, released in 2001, is part of a comprehensive study of the early influences of rock & roll. The blues and rhythm & blues sound created by African American artists, as well as a few crossover Anglo musicians, in the late '30s, '40s, and the '50s, laid the foundation for what was to become rock & roll. Volume six collects some notable recordings of the year 1950, just before the big rock & roll explosion caused by artists such as Bill Haley & His Comets and Elvis Presley. The compilation makes clear the great musical debt these artists, who became rich and famous, owed to earlier artists, many of whom remained poor and obscure.
Lennon then rush-released his "official" version in February 1975. In 1969, Lennon composed the song "Come Together" for the Beatles' album Abbey Road.
